use | analytical reagent, complexometric titration indicator. Used as a developer for cobalt, nickel, thorium, niobium and other metals; a complexometric titration indicator for rare earth metals. |
Production method | It is obtained by bromination of pyrogallol red. Pyrogallol red is suspended in glacial acetic acid, heated to boiling, and stirred to drop the bromine acetic acid solution. After the reaction, cool to room temperature, filter, wash free bromine with glacial acetic acid, dry, and recrystallize with a mixture of glacial acetic acid and acetone to obtain the finished product. |
